Sex in the Bible: Queer Theology Pt. 1

May 19th, 2018
Our next entry in the Sex in the Bible series is an important discussion of Queer Theology. Nick Gaines joins us as we attempt to liberate our view of God and allow that freedom to liberate ourselves.
In the first part of this two part episode, we discuss the gendering and sexuality of God, how the bible was assembled and used as a tool to oppress, how the strategy of colonization is implemented to deny queer people access to a relationship with God, and how that impacts children.
This is a necessarily challenging episode. Are you ready to take the challenge?

Did Jesus Have to Die for Our Sins?

April 1st, 2018

This Easter, we're discussing 'what is it that Jesus actually did?' What happened on the cross and the days after? Why did it have to happen that way? These questions have been asked for thousands of years. These questions, and whatever answers are available, are important. Not all people view it the same way and the answers are not as simple as we would like.

In the 90's, people would often ask What Would Jesus Do? We honor this day by asking "What Did Jesus Do?"

Cancellation and Forgiveness

March 25th, 2018

This week we're talking Cancellation Culture. What does it mean to be cancelled? Which steps are required to cancel something or someone? We discuss why this may be helpful and necessary and what makes it effective. But what happens after that if it is time to un-cancel the cancellation. How do you navigate the space between cancellation and forgiveness? We offer insight on both as we find our way to a few answers.

Bibles & Guns

March 10th, 2018

We have a gun problem. Many of the same people who fight against reform profess a strong faith backed by the bible. This week, we're discussing if these two topics can coexist.

Sex in the Bible: Masturbation Pt. 1

February 25th, 2018

We are beginning a series of shows looking at various ways sex is portrayed in the bible. In this first show, we are joined by Nickolas Gaines of the Black on Black Time podcast. We look at the biblical examples of masturbation and contrast them with traditional church teachings on the topic. Does what the bible says align with what the church teaches? Why is sex such a difficult topic to cover in our faith spaces? It's time to be honest about this.
